Just like it says in the title, let me just throw down some basic know-how with this roleplaying community. Those of you who were in Dirge of the Broken will probably see this as a refresher, but for our new members just joining us this is some basic OOC background to know.
LEAVE FATE TO CHANCE! Is your character in a difficult situation? Narrowly escaping losing an arm, getting captured by an enemy, passing out from exhaustion? Don't just decide what happens, roll some dice instead! For better or for worse, it keeps things interesting and unexpected during roleplay. A d20 or d10 is typically used unless otherwise decided per the situation.
THIS ROLEPLAY IS CHAT BASED! Meaning the cbox is where we will do most of our major roleplaying together, while the forum is more used to post profiles, rp logs, and information. Some paragraph rps will still be held in the forum proper though! Just that's not where most of it will. After experimenting with both formats in our last game, we discovered chat rp really works best for a large group roleplaying a largely action-based game.
ROLEPLAY LOGS; PLAY EM, READ EM, POST EM! This goes for cbox roleplays and private ones too. Play something interesting/funny/sweet/plot-centric privately over AIM or Skype with a friend or something? Feel free to post it for others to read too if you'd like. As for cbox logs, if myself, Cyndy [BewilderMe], or Inky [Inksword] are in cbox and an important plot item is happening, one of us will snag the log. If we're not, feel free to save and post it up instead! Or if you'd like, save it and send it to one of us; we'll edit the typos and OOC out and post it up for you.
YOUR CHARACTER IS NOT IMMUNE TO INJURIES OR DEATH! No, you cannot be magically saved from harm by the power of friendship so please leave your happy Sailor Moon happy ending plot twists at the door. Your character can and often will sustain injuries as the game progresses, and I can guarantee that certain permanent character death will happen as well, often unexpectedly due to dice rolls. This is survival-horror. We GMs are going to be sure your characters have to struggle to survive at some points, heheheh.
That being said, outright killing anyone's character is not our goal here; we want to see your characters evolve in times of strife, see them defeat harrowing odds, and how people can work together [or not] to solve their problems in this tough new world. So keep on your toes!
